Hi 🙂 Welcome and thanks for checking this out.
I’m Elizabeth Newsom (you can call me Liz), and I’m an aspiring author. If you love clean romance brimming with tension and laced with intrigue, you’re in the right place.
Roaming this blog is going to be an adventure. There will be writing prompts, polls, discussions, and other opportunities for you to express yourself. You can also expect quotes and book reviews regularly.
At this point, I suppose I’m supposed to tell you more about myself. I’m a very driven ENFJ, so I think the best way to describe myself and my life up to this point is through my career choices.
In kindergarten, I wanted to be one just like Dora. I had it worked out with another little girl, who wanted to be a vet, that I would rescue the animals and take them to her.
Aren’t spies cool? During elementary school, I thought so too. I was very good at sneaking, but apparently that’s not enough to get you into spy school.
So, I finally grew up a bit and got practical during my late elementary school years and middle school. I’m the oldest of five in my family, so I was constantly taking care of everyone, and I loved doing it. I was very interested in health and nutrition (Still am, as my friends can tell you), and being a nurse would give me a decent income.
As much as I love caring for people, I’m also very independent. I didn’t really want to have more people bossing me around than necessary. I became more interested in designing games and nutrition (I wanted to invent healthy soda that was good for your teeth. I’ll let you know if I find something…), and being an entrepreneur opened up so many options; there’s a business for everything. But it’s also a lot of work, and I wasn’t thrilled about all the management, accounting, etc. that came with the job.
Now, here I am. I’ve loved writing and reading since the second grade (my eyesight can prove it). Around 10, I got a teeny tiny laptop for Christmas. It wouldn’t connect to our Wi-Fi, but I could type stories on it. And that’s what I did, though none of them have ever been completed. It didn’t occur to me that this could actually be a career choice until two years ago or so. I love romance, because it’s about love. I think some people who read romances are looking for love, but maybe in the wrong places. That’s where my mission comes in. I want to touch people, to encourage them, to inspire them. I want to show them that love comes from God, and that it’s not something you ‘fall’ into—it’s a choice.
Being an author is hard. Typically, it’s not one of the higher paying careers, but I love it. Writing has a tendency to seep into every area of my life, and I constantly find myself narrating things in my head (weird, huh?). I can’t not write, so I’m just going to do what I love, and I’m going to constantly find ways to improve. The money will come later. Okay, I admit I’m not 100% confident about what I’m doing. I’m actually pretty scared. I have faith in God’s plan for me, but I also have my doubts. When I do, these are two of my favorite quotes:
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.”
The least I can do is try.
Alright, enough about me. I mentioned earlier that I want this to be a place where you can express yourself, so don’t be afraid to speak up. The second thing I want is to interact with people through this blog, to be their friend—to be your friend. If you ever want to chat or need to get something off of your chest, feel free to contact me. I’m here for you 🙂
So, without further ado…
Are you ready for an adventure?
