Genre and Audience: Pirate Romance for NA (New Adult)
You’ll like this if you like: Adventure on the High Seas, Time Travel, Bad Boy Turns into Protective Hero, and Themes of Hope.
Cleanliness: A few really well-written kisses. At one point, Rowan offers to have Morgan as his mistress, but she refuses of course.
Hero Type: Bad Boy
Morgan isn’t looking for a high seas adventure when she hides on a displayed pirate ship to avoid her very recent ex boyfriend, who dumped her after she told him that she had cancer, but finds herself transported to the 1600s with an actual pirate captain. She thinks it’s all a huge roleplaying setup paid for by her wealthy father to keep her mind off of the upcoming chemo. She soon finds out that it’s so much more. She hasn’t been given just an expensive adventure, but an opportunity to find love, healing, and God.
I generally don’t like books where the characters are on ships, since that often limits them setting-wise, but this is an exception. The romance is superb, especially the kisses and the scenes with romantic tension. I love how she described feelings and makes you experience everything with the characters. I honestly can’t decide if this is my favorite of Mary Lu Tyndall’s books or if it’s The Raven Saint. 🙂

May 9, 2016 - 2:27 pm ·I do sort of like boat settings. The characters can’t get away from their problems or the bad guy. I feel like it increases the danger factor. I’m planning my next book to have a boat setting right after the war of 1812. The main character is kidnapped(on accident)and is forced to sail on a pirate(or privateer)boat.
